The vagabond of paradise. The court wizard, prophet, and adviser from the Legend of King Arthur. He would sometimes guide, sometimes cause trouble for, and sometimes aid King Arthur as he fought against his many enemies and overcame his many trials. He was a sage, but fundamentally not human. He was, in fact, a half-blood born of a human and an incubus.
"I love the world of humans, but as for individual humans, well, um... you know! Yep! Okay, I'm starting to think it's better left unsaid!"
As you can see, he's not particularly an ally of mankind.
He is one of the strongest Casters, but he isn't very good at magecraft. Why? Because he gets tongue-tied when chanting spells, you see.

PROFILE 2
It's said that while his mother was the princess of wales, his father was an incubus, a supernatural being that lives between the Earth and the Moon.
He was a prophet from a young age.
The prophecy that brought him the greatest fame was that of a red dragon and a white dragon that slept beneath Mt. Erir, and how they would fight after they awoke.
"The red dragon represents Britain, and the white dragon the Saxons. Someday, Britain will gather power under the banner of a great king, and defeat the Gauls and Romans."
These words were passed on through the ages as the prophecy of Merlin.
He left many other prophecies, some of which concerned even the outcome of wars and the deaths of kings.
Merlin aided Arthur's father, Uther Pendragon, in his marriage to the queen, watching over the throne since before King Arthur's birth.
In some versions of the story, he is like a foster father to Arthur, who watches over the young king's growth and teaches him many things.

Flowers bloom on the ground, and warm sunlight pours into the surroundings, even in the darkest depths of hell.
Even if he were trapped in the smallest and darkest of cells, his only view of a fragment of the sky far above, his utopia would continue to manifest.
The place where Merlin, the Mage of Flowers, dwells will never be a hell.
It will be a land filled with hope.

Magecraft that deceives others.
Refers to mental interference and false images projected into the real world.
At A Rank, it can create not only nightmares within the world of the mind, but in the real world as well.
It could easily create false images powerful enough to affect an entire village.
PROFILE 4
A young man like the wind blowing across a grassy plain.
Everyone relaxes in his presence.
A good-looking, easygoing man with a good heart.
But he lacks a sense of responsibility and tends to be relaxed no matter the situation, so he is often seen as a shady con man.
He takes an objective view of things, and while he admits that the human world can be a cruel place, he says "Well that's no fun, is it?" and changes the world into something happy.
He loves the world of mankind. He loves mischief. He loves girls.
The Mage of Flowers gets through most of his problems with a refreshing smile and a, "Now, now," retort.
He's often seen as a perfectly happy person, with no worries at all, but Merlin himself realizes that he is an outsider in human society, and so he can't tear down the final barrier of being able to call someone a dear friend.
He watches over the world day and night so that humanity can have a happy ending.

The skill to cause the birth of a king and raise them.
Merlin can be said to be King Arthur's true father, and is one of the most famous kingmakers in the world.
Mixed Blood: EX
Has the blood of a non-human within him. Merlin is part incubus, and has inherited its special traits.
Self-Manifestation: A
The ability to manifest in the world on one's own.
Merlin is not normally summoned as a Heroic Spirit.
This is because there is no future where he can die.
He serves his Master as a Servant to vent his selfish desires, which could essentially be called a hobby.
In order to indulge this hobby of his, he single-handedly obtained this skill that only a certain special class could possess, and pretends to be summoned as a Servant.
PROFILE 6: Seventh Singularity and reach Bond Level 5
He possesses outstanding clairvoyance, and was able to see both the collapse of the Round Table and Britain's peril. In spite of this, he left the country without telling King Arthur. There are several theories as to why Merlin did not tell King Arthur of his fate, but it's said that this was because he did not side with any one individual, and instead only loved fate itself. Afterwards, Merlin went to the utopia of Avalon, and sealed himself within the tower there. Unable to die, he is destined to watch over the world of man until the end of time. ...Almost as if this were the lot of a foolish young man who playfully interfered with the fate of a young girl.

数多の敵や苦難を乗り越えんとするアーサー王を時に導き、時に悩ませ、時に助けた。
しかし、賢人であっても基本的には非人間。なにしろ夢魔と人間の混血である。
「人間の世界は大好きだが、個人個人となると、わりと、ほら、まあ、うん！ よし、言わぬが花の気がしてきたぞぅ！」
この通り、別に人間の味方、という訳でもない。
最高位のキャスターの一人だが、本人は魔術を得意としていない。なぜって呪文はかむからね。

母はウェールズ王妃であったとされるが、父については月と大地との間に生きる超自然的な夢魔であったとされる。
年若くして多くの予言を行ったという。
中でもマーリンの名を広く知らしめるに至った預言が、エリル山の地下に眠る赤と白の竜の存在を言い当てた後、目覚めた赤き竜と白き竜が互いに戦うさまを語ったものである。
マーリンの予言として後世に伝わったその言葉は
赤き竜はブリテンを示し、
白き竜はサクソンを示し、
偉大なる王の下にやがてブリテンは力を集め、ガリアとローマを制するであろう――――
といった内容だった。
彼は他にも多くの予言を残し、中には戦争や王の死に関わるものさえあった。
マーリンはアーサーの父ウーサー・ペンドラゴンと妃の結婚を手助けし、アーサー王を誕生の以前から見守り、逸話によっては幼いアーサーに多くを教え、その成長を見届けた義父のような存在であったという。

『永久に閉ざされた理想郷』

マーリンが今も幽閉されている『塔』を周囲に再現する。
地面には花が咲き乱れ、どのような暗闇・地獄であろうと暖かな陽差しが差し込む。
たとえ彼に許された空間がわずか十メートル四方の牢獄であり、彼に与えられた風景が遥か上空にある切り取られた空だけであろうと、そこは理想郷として在り続ける。
花の魔術師マーリンいるところ、そこは地獄ではなく、希望に満ちた大地とならん。

人を惑わす魔術。精神への介入、現実世界への虚像投影などを指す。
Ａランクともなると精神世界における悪夢はもちろん、現実においても一つの村程度の虚像を軽く作りあげ、人々を欺く事ができる。

彼の前では誰もが肩の力を抜いてしまう、爽やかな正義の人。
ただどうも緊張感やら責任感が欠如しているように見える為、胡散臭い詐欺師に見られる事も。
物事を客観的に捉え、人間世界は残酷なものと認めながらも『でも、それだと楽しくはないだろう?』と明るいものに変えていく弁士でもある。
人間の世界好き、悪戯好き、女の子好き。
たいていの事は「まあまあ」と爽やかな笑顔で切り返していく花の魔術師。
何の悩みもないパーフェクトハッピーな人格に見られがちだが、マーリン自身、自分が人間社会において異物だと自覚しているので最後の一歩……親友といえる壁……を壊せない。
最終的に、人類がハッピーなオチになるよう、日夜世界を見守っている。

アーサー王の真の父と言えるマーリンは、世界でも有数のキングメイカーとして知られる。

マーリンがなぜアーサー王に運命を伝えなかったかは諸説様々だが、彼は個人には肩入れせず、運命だけを愛するものだったからでは、と言われている。
その後、マーリンは理想郷アヴァロンに渡り、そこで自ら『塔』に幽閉された。
死ぬ事もできず、この世の終わりまで人間の世界を見届けること。
……それが、遊び気分でひとりの少女の運命に関わった、愚かな男の末路だと言うかのように。

A wanderer in paradise. An adviser, prophet, and court magician that appeared in the tales of King Arthur. At times he guided, at times he troubled, and at times he helped King Arthur, who faced numerous enemies to overcome.
But, though he was wise, he was fundamentally inhuman. After all, he was a mixed-blood born from an incubus and a human.

As it is, it isn't as if he's not an ally of humans.

PROFILE 2
Though his mother is said to have been the Queen of Wales, his father is rumoured to be a supernatural incubus that lived in the space between the moon and the earth. He made many predictions in his youth.
Amongst those was the prophecy that led to the name of Merlin being known far and wide; after being proven right about the existences of the red and white dragons slumbering beneath Mount Emrys, he told of how they would awaken and battle each other.
In that prophecy of Merlin's passed down for posterity,
The red dragon represented Britain,
The white dragon represented the Saxons,
Under the great king, Britain would gather its strength,
And conquer both Gaul and Rome---
Such were the contents of the prophecy.
He also left many other prophecies behind, amongst which were those that told of war and of the king's death.
Merlin aided in the marriage of Uther Pendragon - Arthur's father - and his wife. Watching over King Arthur since before his birth, the stories say that he taught young Arthur many things, and witnessed his growth in the role of a foster father.

"The Eternally Shut Utopia"

Merlin reproduces the tower and surroundings in which he is still imprisoned to this day.
Flowers bloom across the land, bringing warm sunshine no matter what infernal darkness there is.
Even if the only space permitted to him was a prison ten metres around, and even if the landscape bestowed upon him is just that of a distant, boundless sky far above, that place continues to be an utopia.
Wherever the Mage of Flowers, Merlin, is, that place can never be a hell, but a land filled with hope.
Illusion: A
A magecraft that misleads people. It encompasses manipulation of the mind, projection of virtual images into reality, and the like.
At rank A, besides the typical nightmares in the mental world, it is possible to create an entire illusionary village in reality, deceiving people that way.
PROFILE 4
A youth akin to a breeze blowing through the grassy plains.
A refreshing man of justice that can set everyone who stands before him at ease.
However, he seems to lack any sort of nervousness or sense of responsibility, so he also appears to be a shady fraudster.
While he is able to grasp things objectively and acknowledgesthe cruelty of the human world, he is also a rhetorician who can put a positive spin on it by saying, "But, isn't that what makes things fun?"
He likes the human world, he likes pranks, and he likes women.
The Mage of Flowers responds to most things with a refreshing smile, saying "Well, well".
Though he may appear to have a perfectly happy personality untroubled by anything, Merlin himself is fully aware that he does not belong in human society... and so is unable to breach that final step... that wall called friendship.
Ultimately, he watches over the world day and night in order for the humans to find happiness.

Merlin, who could be said to be King Arthur's true father, is one of the foremost king-makers in the world.
Mixed-Blood: EX
Blood which is mixed with that of an inhuman being.
Merlin is considered to be a mixed-blood of an incubus, and has completely inherited the traits of one.
Independent Manifestation: A
A skill to manifest in this world independently.
Originally, Merlin cannot be summoned as a Heroic Spirit.
That is because he has not died in any possible future.
Becoming a Servant to a Master is a means to express his personal desires, or in other words, his hobby.
In order to realize this hobby of his, he obtained through his own power a skill which would normally be possessed only by a particular, special Class, and is now pretending to have been summoned as a Servant.
PROFILE 6: ???
Despite having excellent clairvoyance which foresaw the fall of the Round Table and Britain's crisis, he left Britain without saying a word of it to King Arthur.
There are many theories as to why Merlin did not inform King Arthur of his fate, but it is said that he sided not with individuals, but loved only fate.
Afterwards, Merlin drifted to the utopian Avalon, and imprisoned himself in the "tower" of his own will. Without being able to die, he would observe the human world until it ended.
...As if to say that it was a fitting end for a foolish man, who involved himself in the fate of a single girl upon a playful whim.
